Please follow our the rules below about child(ren) drop-offs, collection, absence:

CHILDREN DROP-OFFS:

  • Children are to be dropped off and/or picked up where appropriate* (*Appropriate is with regards to whether the child is coming directly from school) by a parent or caregiver unless prior arrangements are made with parental consent, preferably in writing.
  • Parents/guardians are expected to sign their children into and out of the holiday programme, and out of the programme.

CHILDREN ABSENCES

  • Parents are to advise the Supervisor on each occasion a child/ren will not be attending before 9am that day, either by leaving a message on the Elmwood OSCAR answer phone, calling/texting the Elmwood OSCAR cell phone or by emailing us. Rebates of fees will be granted for one week’s notice of absence, if the vacancy can be filled.
  • Parents need to inform the Supervisor if they will be dropping children off late or picking them up early. > If the group is not in the OSCAR Room (e.g. outdoors in playground) the parent must make sure that the staff know that their child has been dropped off or picked up.
  • When the group leaves the OSCAR Room a note will be left on the door describing where the group is.

COLLECTION OF CHILDREN

  • Parents/guardian must provide a list of adults authorised to collect their children. Children will not be allowed to leave with an unauthorised adult.
  • If parents are later than 6pm picking up their children they will be charged a late fee of $50 to cover staff costs.

If a child is uncollected at the end of a programme the following procedure will be followed:

Two staff members will remain with the child.
Parents and emergency contact will be contacted.

  • If there has been no contact with the parents within one hour of the programme closing at 6pm the child will be taken to the nearest police station. A note will be left at the centre indicating where the child has been taken and the programme co-ordinator will be informed.
  • In addition to the general safety policies outlined, the programme will ensure that the staff and other adults visiting or working at the programme are well supervised and visible in activities performed with children.

A minimum of two staff will be supervising the programme at all times.

All OSCAR staff are provided with a code of behaviour, copies of which are available to parents upon request. This code outlines appropriate behaviour, supervision, discipline, and the prevention and reporting of child abuse.

SUN SAFE

Elmwood OSCAR promotes sun safety for children and staff.Children will be required to wear hats while they are outside, specifically during the summer months. For example, Term 1 and Term 4.

Parents are expected to provide their child/ren with a sunhat during the program. Every effort will be made to ensure the children are wearing their hats when outdoors.

  • Hats will be provided for some children who do not have a hat.
  • Sun block will also be provided if the child does not have it. If the child has an allergy the parent will be asked to supply their own.
